Pet Sematary

This podcast contains spoilers. Welcome to the year 2021 everyone. Let’s talk all about Pet Sematary today! What do we think?

We can’t think of a better way to ring in the New Year than by talking about a film where there is a graveyard that can bring things back to life (like 80s nostalgia and Star Wars reboots) but somehow wrong or different. This marks the first week of birthday month at Nothing to Fear. All of us hosts have a January birthday and since we decided to have a fourth week in January we had to get our dear friend Mark involved since he is also a January baby.

So get your resolutions sorted out and tidy away the Christmas decorations while listening. Please check the Time Codes for certain trigger warnings happening in this movie. There are a couple doozies.

BONUS Get Out Mini-episode with Shannon McDill from the “Our Life in Transition” Podcast

Just in time for the end of the year, Billie was super super honoured to sit down with the lovely Shannon McDill, to continue the conversation around Get Out. She gives me a brief history of her own horror movie pedigree and she also gives a couple great podcast recommendations.

Check out You’re Wrong About, for those episodes on the Tuskegee Syphilis Study and also listen to Shannon’s Podcast, Our Life in Transition, that she does with her wife Rachel.

Thanks for listening all year. Happy New Year, from Nothing to Fear! See ya on Monday for Pet Sematary!

Ring

THIS PODCAST CONTAINS SPOILERS.

Take a trip to the Izu Peninsula in Japan with the Nothing to Fear squad! We are talking all about 1998’s J-Horror classic, Ring. We ask if you would chant Bloody Mary in the mirror, debate the likelihood of the spirit world and how it can impact on our lives and gently remind Luke that Master Chief isn’t going to be in this one until we realize that Sadako was just creating the world’s first chain letter. Enjoy!

Thank you for the artwork design, Katie (@put_thatdown) and Madison (@makeshiftmadison). Thank you Alex for the music at the start and thank you everyone for listening to us! Consider leaving us a 5-star review over on Apple Podcasts to help us grow.

It Chapter Two

This Podcast contains Spoilers!

It Chapter Two takes place 27 years after the first chapter. The movie was released a YEAR after the first one. But we’re impatient at Nothing to Fear so the gap is only one week long. We’re diving back into the sewers of Derry, Maine to confront our fears, drag them out in the daylight and reveal them to be much less powerful than we perceive.

NOW. There is the depiction of a very horrifying homophobic attack that opens the film as well as a character that suicides, so please take that as a content warning for the discussion of the episode. No worries if you need to skip around or sit this one out. As usual we have as many time codes as we can for y’all to jump to where you need. And those happen right now.

It Chapter One

This Podcast contains spoilers!! And, As a bonus trigger warning just for those eagle eyed listeners who read these notes, THERE are some discussions about sexual assault in this episode. So. You are warned. There is also an audio clue for you to prep yourself. So, you go in as armed as you can be. On to the show notes!

The Nothing to Fear Team headed to Maine in the 80s to check out some weird happenings in the small town of Derry. There we met this random group of kids who were, to varying degrees, adorable and annoying and then watch them get harassed by a spooky clown. Then we talk about it!

If you like the show and you wanna support us, consider checking us out on our teepublic store and getting one of our two designs! The classic logo is always available and looks great and was designed by Katie (@put_thatdown). Also! Now the Daytime is Safety design from Madison (@makeshiftmadison) is up now. Get yours and get some good gifts for the people you love. Or for yourself! Another way to show support for the show is to leave us a review, like and subscribe to the instagram (@nothingtofearpodcast) or just tell people about it! Tell your friends and enemies and everyone in between!

Thanks for listening, all!
