Aegis provides security for LGBTQIA+ safe spaces on Discord as well as content creators on Twitch seeking to protect their community. Servers and creators within Aegis help stop the flood of anti-LGBT trolls, bad actors, and hate raids. Aegis also provides space for streamers and Discord teams to meet, collaborate, plan events, exchange ideas, look for experienced mods, train new mods, and so much more.

The Aegis Security System

At the core, Aegis is a system for registered streamers (currently limited to Twitch) and Discord server teams who operate LGBTQIA+ safe spaces, to report bans they have issued against trolls, raiders, and those that do not follow the rules of these spaces.

These reports are made in announcement channels that auto publishes so servers following can get up to date and immediate reports. From there, moderation teams of registered servers/streamers can then judge those offenses against their own community standards, and pre-emptively issue bans BEFORE these folks come knocking.

As of May 2022, Aegis has over 30 registered discord communities and twitch streamers, with a combined community representation of over twenty thousand members!

Other Functions

In addition to security, Aegis is a central place for streamers and discord teams to meet, collaborate, plan events, exchange ideas, look for additional and experienced mods, train new mods, and so much more.

Qualifications

Discord Servers

The requirements to join Aegis as a Discord Server are:

• Be an LGBTQIA+ safe space with a focus on LGBTQIA+ content.
• No less than 100 members.

Twitch Streamers

The requirements to join as a Discord Server are:

• Be an LGBTQIA+ safe space with a focus on LGBTQIA+ content.
• Be a Twitch Affiliate or have the option to go affiliate (Have the ‘Path to Affiliate’ Achievement).

Aegis Registration

You can trust those participating on Aegis are who they say they are; through our in-depth registration process. Aegis staff scrutinize applications and verify the identity of those registering – staff WILL join registering servers and WILL visit channels during the process to see if servers are safe spaces. Once verified, we will share your server invite or channel link, so others know who is involved as well. Security and keeping people safe is our #1 priority.
